Economic Viability of running Tembhu Lift Irrigation Project

Details of running and maintenance charges –

Electricity charges
1(A) 1(B)II, III 1(A) & 1(B)-IV, V for 79600 hectares. = 437.29 Million Units

HP calculations
HP calculations for Stage 1(A) to Stage-V- = 217455 H.P.
Total H.P. = 217455 H.P.

K.V.A. calculations
K.V.A. calculations Stage 1(A) to Stage-V- = 142162 KVA
Total KVA = 142162 KVA

Total charges
Fixed charges at Rs. 25/ month / KVA as per HTP – 7
Demand charges 142162 x 12 x 25 = Rs.42648600

Tariff Rs. 1.30 Average rates / unit as per HTP – 7

437.29 Mus. x 1.30
= Rs.568477000

Add 2% penalty charges = Rs.11369540
Total charges
= Rs.622495140

Electricity charges per hectare = Rs.622495140 = Rs.7820/ ha./year-
79600

Irrigation charges as per MKVDC circular = Rs.2340/ha./year

Add 5% for maintenance charges = Rs.508/ha/year

Lift Irrigation charges recoverable for running the Scheme

as per project cropping pattern = (7820 + 2340 + 508 ) = Rs.10668/ha/year

Total maintenance cost = (7820 + 508) = Rs.8328/ha/year

Irrigation charges for 79600 ha. irrigation is
= Rs.10668/ha/year.

No. of rotations in a year = 23 Nos.

Rate of irrigation per rotation = 10668/23
= 463/ha. (Rs.187/acre)

Presently in this area private Lift Irrigation charges are Rs. 500 to Rs. 600/per acre rotation. Therefore, there will not be any difficulty in recovering of Rs.187 / acre, the proposed irrigation charges are recoverable from the beneficiaries. Thus, it can be seen from the above deliberations that the proposed component of Tembhu Lift Irrigation Project is economically viable and should be taken up.

Hi Sirji,
First of all thanks much for the detail information.
Here, I would like to know - when can we expect the reimbursement of the land which has acquired for this tembu project.

unknown said...

thnx for statistical info. about project .but there is not mentioned cost of land acquisation for tembhu lift irrigation project and canals and infrastructure . command offices etc. i think most of all bills are paid to contractors for building project, and other infra. but ...but.. we have not received single rupee against our land acquisation for project, how can any govt body pays all other bills except than that of land.i think without any land you cant build any project. when you are going to pay compensation to poor land owners.
